Country’s sovereignty should not be compromised for aid: Shahbaz Sharif
LAHORE, Oct 04 (INP): Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhmmad Shahbaz Sharif has said that sovereignty of the country should be top priority and government should not accept any assistance while compromising national sovereignty and honour.
He was talking to media persons during his visit to sites of various development projects to observe their pace and quality standards.
Commissioner Lahore, DCO and other high officials of various departments also accompanied the Chief Minister during his three hours long visit to development projects sites.
He expressed his dissatisfaction over the prevailing crises confronting the stability of the country and role of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) led Federal government to cope with these crises. He prayed to Allah Almighty to keep Pakistan under shelter of His blessings.
The CM Punjab said that Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) is against conditional aid as it would not only hurt the country’s sovereignty but would also increase tax burden on countrymen who were already suffering due to forge policies of the government.
Earlier he visited the site of Mughalpura Flyover site and observed the development work. He also talked to the staff of construction company working on the project and directed them to complete the work in stipulated timeframe. He also asked them to keep a check on the quality and standard of the development project and warned that no compromise would be made in this regard. He was told that Mughalpura Flyover would be opened for traffic on November 14.
Later he visited Harbunspura-Manawaan, Ring Road and Township Green Town and witnessed the road construction projects. On the occasion the concerned staff briefed him about progress on the said projects.
