Federal Minsiter for Science & Technology
QUETTA Mar 7 (PPI): Federal Minister for Science and Technology Changez Jamali has said that the present democratic government has firm belief to strengthen the economic relations with Turkey, adding that Pakistan would play its key role in Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) for covering the gap among the member states. He was of the opinion that Turkey is a great blessing for the people of Pakistan and expressed the hope that Turkey would continue its assistance and support to Pakistan in making infrastructure for transport and other communications in order to link Pakistan with other member states of ECO.
He expressed these views while talking to Turkish delegation, led by Celalettin Gungenci, Programme Coordinator for Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) in Pakistan, which met him in Islamabad Monday.
They discussed matters pertaining to bilateral economic relations between the two countries with special reference to education field in Science and Technology. He also informed the delegation about the regional situation particularly crises in Balochistan, created by flood in the areas of Kachhi and Noshki and appealed all donor agencies, including UNHCR, UNDP and other international agencies to come forward for help of the people of affected areas.
The delegation agreed with the proposal of the Minister for filling gap to bring people of both countries more closer.  The Turkish Firm which is specialised in construction work and already engaged in various projects in Pakistan has showed interest to extend cooperation with Pakistan and offered contribution in scientific and technological education sector.  They also informed the Minister that its firm –TIKA would provide 100 ambulances to the Pakistani authorities for distribution in Balochistan and pledged for providing more ambulances in other parts of the country in near future.
The Minister thanked the delegation on behalf of the government of Pakistan for extending such assistance and support and expressed hope that this would help to strengthen ties between the two countries.
