Islamabad: Judges advised to become role models in all respect
ISLAMABAD, May 24 (INP): Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani has said that judgeship is not a profession but a way of life; hence, judges are required to become “role models” in all respects.
Justice Jillani expressed these views in an inaugural ceremony of one-week training course for Additional District and  Sessions Judges, held here at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA), Islamabad on Monday.
“Your conduct should be worthy of emulation. Your role should be role model in all respects,” advised Justice Jillani to the learned participants.
He said that the edifice of the administration of justice rests on the shoulder of the district judiciary; hence, the members of district judiciary are required to play such a role which builds the image of the entire judiciary.
“You (the district Judiciary members) are the first impression of the judiciary because eighty percent of the litigations come to the district judiciary. It is the first stage; it is the first field where the justice seekers come for justice. It is the district judiciary which can make or mar the image of the judiciary” he maintained.
Speaking about the role of a Judge he said that the role of a judge was not only important from national point of view but also from the religious point of view.
Quoting the famous glorious Hadith of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) he said, “one day of doing justice was better than a thousand nights of worship.”
“Hence, the learned Judges are called upon to decide the cases not as politicians but in the true spirit of our religion” Justice Jillani observed.
Earlier, Director General of the Academy, presented his welcome speech and a brief profile of the chief guest.
Seventeen Additional District and Sessions Judges from all over Pakistan including AJ&K are participating in this week long Course
