MPA Shaikh Jaffar Mandokhel-Press
QUETTA Aug 29 (PPI): Recent floods have caused enormous devastation in Balochistan and millions of people have rendered homeless. Provincial government was providing assistance to them within its limited resources but expectations form Federal government was not met.
This was stated by PML MPA Shaikh Jaffar Mandokhel at a Press conference here Sunday.
He said health department has billions of rupees budget and medicines. This was not seen anywhere. There are complaints of malaria from several camps and deaths reported. Therefore health department should support during this difficult time.
He said recent floods caused devastation in Khyber Pashtoonkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan. Its impacts would emerge in future and would be very dangerous. We must prepare to face these impacts from now.
Jaffar Mandokhel said we have provided shelters to flood affectees at two government school. All the affectees here are from Sindh and we are serving them. He said philanthropists want to serve but it is not known why they do not want to come forward. He appealed to tem to come forward and serve the people.
He said Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani, Chief Secretary, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Quetta were extending full assistance to flood hit people. He said members of cabinet should also setup camps of their respective departments and provide assistance to affectees. He said number of affectees runs into millions and provincial government cannot do this alone. He said it seems as departments were totally ignorant from flood and no minister was seen active. Unless departments would active, overcoming flood would be quite difficult. He regretted that several departments were busy in receiving their commission and they are not interested in the matters of affectees.
He said it was his suggestions that all the government schools should be given to him. They would lodge flood affectees there whether they are from Balochistan or Sindh, we would serve them. He said still hundreds of people were living on roads helpless and there is no one to help them. When they would be lodged at government schools, they would get electricity, water and gas along with shelter. People would provide them food on self help basis.
He said Deputy Chairman Senate had arrived Quetta. Whatever relief goods we could arranged was given to him which he distributed in flood affected areas.
