Turkish Govt keen to invest in Pak agriculture sector
PESHAWAR, May 24 (INP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Arbab Muhammad Ayub Jan has said that Pakistan had close brotherhood relations with the Turkish Government and the Turkish brethren had extended their cooperation to Pakistan in all odd hours.
This he said while talking to Programme Coordinator of Turkish International Coop, Agency (TIKA) Mr. Celalettin Gungenci who called on him at Civil Officers Mess here Monday.
Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Sitara Ayaz was also present during the meeting. the Turkish Progamme Coordinator informed Provincial Minister, Arbab Ayub Jan that the Turkish Government was keen to develop the agriculture sector in this province and for the purpose they wanted to invest in small and short term result oriented projects in the agriculture sector.
Arbab Ayub Jan  said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was basically a agriculture based province where 75% of population directly involved with this sector.  He further said the agriculture is the backbone of the province economy and giving 24% of GDP in the annual budget.
He said to eliminate the poverty from the province the government was also keen to develop the cottage industry and for the purpose training in honey bee and mushroom production were being given to the farmers.
He said that 48% of fruits being produced in this province and various kinds of fruit still under research process.
Minister Agriculture thanked Mr. Celalettin Gungenci for extended their cooperation specially in the field of agriculture and informed him that soon various agriculture projects would be started in the province through their cooperation for the welfare of the people of this province.
