173 dengue suspects visited allied hospitals so far

RAWALPINDI, Sept 15 (APP): Focal person for Rawalpindi Medical College
Dr Javed Hayat said Sunday around 173 dengue fever suspects had been brought to the Allied Hospitals of the city so far this year.
Eighteen of them were diagnosed positive after laboratory tests. Eleven
patients have been discharged after recovery, while seven were under treatment, he added.
Dr Javed Hayat, who is also Deputy Medical Superintendent of the Holy
Family Hospital (HFH), told APP that some 159 dengue fever suspects were registered at the HFH and 14 at the Benazir Bhutto Hospital(BBH).
"Presently only four dengue patients are under treatment at the HFH
and three at the BBH," he added..
He said some 17 dengue fever suspects visited the above two allied
hospitals during last 48 hours, raising the number from 156 to 173.
Dr Hayat said majority of the patients belonged to the Rawalpindi city
and their number had increased due to ongoing rains.
He said all-out efforts were being made to control dengue cases in
the Rawalpindi district. "The dengue fever situation is under control.
Its threat will end by mid of October with the change of weather conditions."
Dr Hayat said maximum arrangements for the treatment of dengue
patients had been made at the allied hospitals. All possible preventive measures were in place to meet any eventuality.
District Health Officer Dr Ansar Ishaque said a full-scale fumigition drive was underway in different localities of the city, espcially where dengue larva had been found.
He said the health department's teams had visited Khayaban-e-Sir
Syed, Dhoke Naju, Dhoke Dalal, Safdarabad, Bangash Colony, besides schools, colleges, bus terminals, including Pirwadahi Bus Stand, service stations, and tyre shops and sprayed chemicals to eliminate mosquitoes.
He advised the citizens to adopt precautionary measures.
