Private colleges excel in Inter exam in Multan

MULTAN, Sept 23 (APP): Private colleges excelled in the annual
Higher Secondary Schools Certificate (HSSC) examination 2013, held under BISE.
Ferheen Fatima Khan of City College of Science & Commerce
bagged overall first position by securing 1040 marks while Nafees
Razzaq of Muslim Public Higher Secondary School and Abu Bakar Naeem
of Kips College for Boys grabbed 2nd and 3rd position
respectively by obtaining 1039 and 1038 marks.
The prize and medal awarding ceremony was held at Jubilee
Hall of Board of Intermediate& Secondary Education (BISE) on
Monday. According to BISE statistics, candidates who
applied for admission to the examination were 51,452 while the number
of candidates who appeared in the examination were 50,593
and 26,454 candidates remained successful showing an overall pass
percentage of 52.29.
A total of 36 unfair means cases (UMCs) and complaints
registered while 22 cases were decided and 14 cases were still under trail.
Addressing the ceremony, Provincial Minster for Prisons,
Chaudhry Abdul Waheed Arain appreciated the position
holders, their parents, teachers and organizations for their brilliant
performance. He said the Punjab government had allocated 26 per cent of
the budget on education and was paying special attention to it.
He added the Punjab government was upholding merit
and had been following a transparent policy.
About 37 students are getting education in
Germany, France and other foreign countries and the Punjab
government was bearing their expenses, he said.
The minister said the provincial
government had earmarked Rs 10 billion for poor and deserving
people.
BISE Chairman Chaudhry Rasheed congratulated the position holders
and said they should bring a good name to the country and prove to
be good ambassadors of the country when they travelled abroad.
The minister also gave away prizes among the position holders.
