CM visits Pasni fish Harbour

PASNI Apr 11 (PPI): People in coastal areas of Balochistan would be the biggest beneficiaries of Economic Corridor while local fishermen would also benefit from it. Government would ensure security to rights of fishermen and they would be provided modern facilities such as fibre boats.
This was stated by Balochistan chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri while speaking during a briefing and meeting with local fishermen here Monday.
Commander Southern Command Lt General Aamir Riaz, Chief Secretary Saifullah Chatha, and others were also present on the occasion.
Secretary fisheries Muhammad Arshad Bugti told CM, Commander Southern Command of functional of fish Harbour that during February 2016 Chief Minister had given six months period for its functioning. However Habour dysfunctional for 10 years has been made operative in tow months time and over 2000 registered fishermen and four hundred other fishermen were also using this harbor. It has increased employment avenues in the area.
He said that economy of Pasni and adjoining coal areas depend on fish harbor. On the special attention Pasni fish harbor has become functional again. He aid auction hall of the harbour is also fully operative and fishermen were getting help in sale of their fish.
He said a private sector cold storage and 11 packing and processing plants were also working in Pasni. He said owing to dredging and break water facility fishermen were facing difficulties. A plan was underway for purchase of a dredger and break water. Services of consultants were being hired for preparing feasibility report and PC-1 and Pakistan Navy has also been contacted in this regard. For these tow projects additional grant of Rupee s300 million is required.
Chief Minister and Chief Secretary directed that PC-1 of these projects would be pared and send to provincial government for which required grant would be provided.
Commander Southern Command Lt General Aamir Riaz expressing pleasure over the activation of fish harbor and directed to mobilisie all resources for providing better facilities to the fishermen.
Chief Minister also met with local fishermen and took stock of their problems. Fishermen expressed satisfaction and pleasure over functioning of fish harbor and thanked Chief Minister and provincial government.
