Reliefé rescue operation underway in quake-hit areas

AWARAN Sept 30 (Online): The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has established Forward Operating Bases at Khuzdar and Bela for well planned and sustained logistic support for the earthquake affected people.

A spokesman of the authority said that these bases are functioning round the clock in coordination with the Army and District Administration.

NDMA has also deputed its officers at Awarané Bela and Khuzdar to coordinate the relief activities with the District Administration and Army.

Besides sending relief items through roadé NDMA is also coordinating C-130 and helicopter sorties for air dropping of food packs.

Balochistan Government has established a committee comprising of armyé civil administration and notables of the affected areas for transparent distribution of relief goods to the affectees.

So far 12é275 ration food packsé 16é735 tentsé 6é160 blanketsé 1é700 plastic bagsé 300 mosquito netsé 13é900 water bottles and 3 tons of miscellaneous food items have reached to earthquake affected areas of Balochistan.

Meanwhileé National Disaster Management Authority's Member Operationsé Brig. Kamran Zia visited Awaran where he was briefed about relief and rescue operations in the earthquake affected areas.

Heé along with General Officer Commanding 33 Division Major Generalé Shamraizé also visited the injured persons under treatment at district hospital of Awaran.
