DI Khan, Haripur, Peshawar jails under attack threat: KPK Advisor

PESHAWAR, April 16 (INP): Provincial Advisor for Jails Qasim Khan has said that Dera Ismail Khan, Haripur and Peshawar jails have been under threat of attacks.

The KPK Advisor Jails was speaking during his visit to Peshawar Central Jail on Wednesday. He inspected security arrangements at the prison.

He said that 46 high profile prisoners have been kept at Peshawar Jail. He said the inmates from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) are the federal government's prisoners and the province intends to transfer them to the centre. He said several letters have been written to the federal government for transfer of the high profile prisoners including Dr. Shakeel Afridi.

He said a security plan has been prepared for Central Jail Peshawar and other big and small prisons of the province.

The advisor said that the jail staff has been given modern weapons for security.
