NAB files reference against 8 officials of BCDA

QUETTA Sep 22 (PPI): National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan has filed a reference against eight officials and contractor for embezzlements of millions of Rupees in Balochistan Coastal Development Authority in the Accountability Court.
NAB sources said here Monday that Government of Balochistan had earmarked millions of Rupees for Fish Landing Jetty and Onshore Facilities under Coastal Development Project at Dam Bandar district Lasbella. These constructions were to be completed during 2006 and 2008. It was aimed at to provide facilities to poor masses particularly fishermen so that besides improving their lifestyle they should earn foreign exchange for the country and thus play their role for its progress.
Taking suo motto notice NAB started investigation in the misappropriation of millions of rupees in Balochistan coastal Development Authority.
Investigations showed that Muhammad Azam Pathan and other officials have made massive embezzlement and despite spending huge funds the project was still incomplete and was giving deserted look.
NAB completed its investigation and filed a reference of Rs 234.596 million against eight officials of Balochistan Coastal Development Authority including Muhammad Azam Pathan former DG, Naseer Ahmed Durrani former Chief Engineer, Shokat Ali Baloch former XEN, Muhammad Naeem Khan Accounts Officer, Chaudhry Khadim Hussain Director Technical, Shafqatullah Cheema, Ahmed Pathan Consultant and Agha Faisal Contractor in the Accountability Court.
Director General NAB Balochistan Syed Khalid Iqbal has reiterated that looters of national wealth would be dealt with iron hands and would continue to play role for elimination of corruption from the country.
