QUETTA Nov 23 (PPI): Spread of fatal disease of polio is becoming matter of shame for the country and the nation. Emergency concrete measures for its eradication are very much necessary. We have to eliminate this from the province at every cost.
These views were expressed by Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chatha while chairing a meeting on polio here Sunday.
Secretary health Arshad Hussain Bugti, Secretary Education Abdul Saboor Kakar, Commissioner Quetta Qambar Dashti, WHO Balochistan team leader Mehdi Nasir, UNICEF representative and others attended.
Expressing grave concern over surfacing new cases of polio in Balochistan Chief Secretary said our national image was being hurt in the world due to this and difficulties are increasing for Pakistanis. Ban has been imposed on their foreign visits. He said elimination of polio is our national responsibility and we have to complete this at all costs. If everyone would work hard and with dedication we can defeat this fatal disease. Cooperation of tribal elders, Ulema, people from various walks of life is utmost necessary.
He directed Secretary Health to setup medical camps along with anti polio campaigns so that other fatal diseases are also cured because provision of best health facilities is among priorities of government.
He also directed participants to monitor campaigns and visit different districts because no leniency in this regard would be tolerated. If anyone found ignorant strict legal action would be taken against him. He said all available resources should be mobilized for eradication of polio.
