Provincial Health Minister-Anti polio drive

QUETTA Nov 24 (PPI): A special drive has been launched in 18 Union councils of Quetta against nine dangerous diseases of children. It would continue till Nov 29. Special efforts are being made for eradication of Polio and other dangerous diseases.
This was stated by Provincial Health Minister Rehmat Saleh Baloch at inauguration of Special vaccination Week at civil hospital here Monday. Secretary health Arshad Hussain Bugti, DG Health Nasser Ahmed Baloch, Dr Anwar Qazi and others were also resent.
Rehmat Baloch said Balochistan is the first province where special campaign against 9 fatal diseases and other diseases has been launched. He said 209 teams have been constituted in 18 Union councils and special points. These would vaccinate children against these diseases. A target of vaccination of 2,80,000 children has been fixed. People particularly children should extend cooperation with health Department teams during special drive to save their children against fatal and dangerous diseases.
He said 18 union councils are in Pashtoonabad 1 and 2, Eastern By Pass, Ghausabad, Aghbargh, Baleli, 1and 2, Kharotabad, Killi Kotwal A and B, Ahmedzai 1 and 2, Kechi Beg and Shadezai Killi Jeo.
He said during first week fo December special drive to save children from measles was being launched. Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has released Rupees 150 million for this form his share while balance would be given by partners.
He said government was mobilizing all resources to eradication of polio in the province. Provincial ministers, MPAs and Secretaries are monitoring polio campaign. He asked Political and religious parties and Ulema to play their role for developing awareness among the people.
Answering a question Health Minister said Polio drive had become a profitable business in the past in the province but present government has taken effective measures for running the drive with success and its positive results were being appeared.
Answering another question he said there no EPI Centres exist in remote areas of the province. It is our effort to setup EPI Centre at village level so that olio and other dangerous diseases are controlled.
Replying to a query Rehmat Saleh Baloch said when we receive any information for international bodies about oil virus in any area special vaccination is carried out to feed anti polio drops. It was bearing positive results.
He told questioner that salaries have been paid to lady health Workers in 14 districts of Balochistan. As soon as pay slips are ready remaining health workers would also be paid their salaries.
