People fed up, block Quetta-Chaman highway

KILLA ABDULLAH Dec 17 (PPI): People staged a joint dharna in front of grid station here Wednesday to protest inadequate load shedding and unannounced closure of feeders.
According to details tribal, zamindars, political parties and social society jointly staged a dharna in front of grid station here today. They blocked Quetta-Chaman highway.
They shouted slogans against unannounced load shedding and said WAPDA officials are involved in corruption. They do not distribute electricity bills but they receive money and misappropriate it.
Several rounds of talks were held between SDO and local leaders but could not prove fruitful.
People were of the view that WAPDA instead of shutting down feeder should disconnect electricity supply of defaulters and should not remove transformers.
Road was still closed when last reports came in. Due to closure of road hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides.
