Ombudsman directs to complete repair work on damaged towers

QUETTA: Provincial Ombudsman, Muhammad Wasey Tareen has directed to the concerned authorities to complete the work of repair on the electricity towers damaged in the area of Chhattar, Naseerabad district at the earliest.
It may be mentioned here that the Ombudsman had taken suo moto notice of the delay in repair work of the damaged towers due to non-grant of the security clearance from the concerned authorities.
In this regard, the Secretary Home, Deputy Commissioner and other concerned authorities had been summoned to explain the matter.
The Deputy Secretary Home, Security Manager QESCO, Superintending Engineer, NTDC and other concerned presented for hearing in the case, and explained the situation.
It was informed by the QESCO and WAPDA officials that the necessary security clearance was sought from the concerned district administration, but there was no response from it in this regard. However, the Secretary Home and Commissioner Naseerabad were approached later and thus got the security clearance.
Now, the work is in progress on the damaged towers, which would be completed in next three-four days, it was informed further.
The Ombudsman on the occasion directed to the Secretary Home to issue further directives to the Deputy Commissioners and District Police Officers of the districts to provide full security in case of any untoward incident in future.
