Senator Abdul Nabi Bangash praises standard of BUITEMS and SBKWU; asks for Governor’s role in increase of annual grant for public sector universities of Balochistan

QUETTA: The present government is really making sincere efforts to improve the standard of education removing educational backward in the province.
This was stated by the Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai while talking to the Chairman of Senate’s Standing Committee for Federal Education and Professional Training, Senator Abdul Nabi Bangash and its other members including Senator Rozi Khan Kakar and Senator Haiman Das, who called on him here the other day.
Also present on the occasion were the Secretary for Higher and Technical Education, Ghulam Muhammad Sabir, Secretary Secondary Education, Abdul Saboor Khan Kakar, Principal Secretary to Governor, Abdul Jabbar, Executive Director Higher Education Commission, Professor Mansoor Akbar Kundi, besides vice chancellors of the public sector universities of the province.
The Governor applauded the role of vice chancellors of the universities in promotion of higher education in the province.
The vice chancellors are putting in their best in the cause of education, as a result better academic environment is being promoted there as compared to the past.
Senator Bangash on the occasion appreciated the education friendliness of the provincial government saying that it is an encouraging that it is paying special attention towards education sector. He particularly praised the standard of education of the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) and Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University (SBKWU) saying that they are second to none.
He also appreciated the standard of research papers of scholars of the Balochistan University, which are published in the international journals.
The Chairman of Senate’s Standing Committee for Federation Education on the occasion expressed his concern over the limited funds for the universities of Balochistan.
He said that the grant being provided to the public sector universities of the province is an insufficient.
He requested to the Governor to play his part in increasing grant of the universities up to Rs. 2 billion so that they may show better performance than now.
He also suggested to include further departments in the Turbat and Loralai universities so that the maximum students may get higher education.
A dinner was also hosted in honour of the visiting guests and other participants.
