Health minister rejects propaganda about children?s death

QUETTA(PPI): Provincial Health Minister Rehmat Saleh Baloch while rejecting propaganda on children?s death that it was caused by measles vaccination. He said this vaccine was being provided to us by WHO.
He was addressing a Press conference here Friday. Provincial Secretary Health Noorul Haq Baloch, Director General Health, Programme manager EPI and representatives of WHO were also present.
He said five children of same family from Killa Saifullah have died and two were undergoing treatment. He said it is being propagated that their death has been caused by measles vaccination. He said from same vial 25 other children in the area have been vaccinated but there is no such report. He said children died of vomiting, dehydration, gastro and diarrhoe.
He said we have vaccinated 35 thousand children in Killa Saifullah while demand for vaccination of another 40 thousand has been received while some 1.1 million children have been vaccinated against measles in Balochistan.
Rehmat Baloch said we continued inquiry committee under the chairmanship of DG Health. Preliminary inquiry proved that these children suffered from dangerous diseases. After verification it has been proved that vaccination was of quality one.
He said deaths of five children are terrifying but we would do our best to known reality so that entire campaign is not affected.
He said now Additional Secretary Health would head inquiry committee instead of Dg health for making the committee further impartial. Two more doctors would also be included.
He sympathised with family whose five children have died.
