Top priority to ensure distribution of zakat transparently: Lehri

QUETTA: The Advisor to Chief Minister for Zakat and Ushr, Muhammad Khan Lehri has stated that it is our top priority to ensure distribution of zakat in a transparent manner.
This was stated by the Advisor while addressing a meeting on the department here the other day. Muhammad Khan Lehri was also briefed about the department and its overall working in the province.
Secretary Zakat and Ushr and other senior officers of the department were also present.
He maintained that the provincial government would ensure distribution of zakat at the doorstep of the poor deserving persons without any hardship, maintained. This would happen only when it would be distributed through a transparent mechanism, he said.
It is our resolve to bring utmost transparency in the distribution of zakat, and for the purpose, new committees and councils would be elected on merit at the district level, so that the eligible and honest representatives may distribute the zakat in a transparent manner.
The newly appointed Advisor to Chief Minister said that although the department is facing numerous problems, but we would do our best to resolve the issues being faced by it.
The federal government would also be approached to resolve its related issues, Lehri assured.
He would also visit Islamabad soon in this regard.
