PR decides to carry out inspection of railway tunnels and bridges

QUETTA: The Pakistan Railways has decided to carry out inspection of all the railway tunnels, bridges and other important installations fall in the Railways’ Quetta Division.
According to the Divisional Superintendent of Railways Quetta Division, the orders have been issued for necessary inspection of all the railway installations particularly the tunnels and bridges.
He said that the inspection of railway installations is conducted annually, however, it is being done again now particularly in wake of the tragic incident of Gujranwala bridge fall the other day.
The Divisional Superintendent said that proper arrangements have been made for safety of the railway installations. However, these are being reviewed, he maintained.
The services of the local Levies force have been hired for safety of the tunnels and bridges, the DS mentioned.
According to the DS Railways, there are some 34 railway tunnels and several bridges which fall in the Quetta Division mainly between Quetta-Sibi Railway Section.
Almost all the tunnels and bridges are in good condition, the DS claimed.
