QUETTA July 27 (PPI): Concrete measures are needed for ending sense of deprivation of people of Balochistan, improving law and order situation and security to human rights.
This was stated by Chairperson Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights Mohtarma Nasreen Jalil while chairing a meeting on non recovery of missing persons and target killing of Hazara community people, mass graves and recovery of mutilated dead bodies at CS office here Monday.
Members of the committee Dr Jahanzeb Jamaldini, Farhatullah Babar, Mohsin Khan Leghari, NIsar Muhammad, Mohtarma Samina Abdid, Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chatha, IG Police Amlish Khan, Secretary Home Akbar Durrani and others.
Secretary Home in a briefing told that law and order situation worsened badly following killing of Nawab Akbar Bugti. However following government measures now law and order situation is satisfactory expect Gwadar, Turbat and Panjgur. He said incidents of terrorism, bomb explosions, abduction for ransom, target killing and other s have shown a significant decline.
Similarly concrete measures have also been adopted for security of Zaireen to Iran as a result target killing incidents have reduced.
About missing persons he said provincial government received applications from 285 people in this regard and of this 107 have been recovered while names of 48 have been removed from the list and now only 155 persons are missing. He said of the 145 applications received by Supreme Court 27 have also been recovered.
Chief Secretary told that provincial government would take all measures for the payment of Rupees one million each to the relatives of Mastung incident victims and providing treatment facilities at the best hospitals of the country.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the briefing Senator Farhatullah Babar said that committee constituted for recovery of missing persons have put forth several suggestions in its report in 2012. If provincial government and security agencies implement these suggestions several problems of the province would be resolved.
Senator Jahanzeb Jamaldini proposed that recovery of missing persons should end now. Provincial government and security institutions should present them before courts and if allegations are proved strict punishment should be awarded to them or they should be released.
Senate Committee also visited Quetta Press Club and protest camp set up by relatives of missing persons. They paid tributes to journalists martyred and sympathized with relatives of missing persons.
Committee members would visit District Jail Quetta Tuesday.
