Condolence reference to be held at Press Club today

QUETTA: A condolence reference marking the Day of the Martyred of Journalism is scheduled to be held after Jumma prayer today (Friday) at the Quetta Press Club.
The Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) has arranged the reference in memory of the slain General Secretary of BUJ, Irshad Ahmed Mastoi and other media persons martyred in different incidents of target killing and bomb blasts in Balochistan.
The homage would be paid to the martyred media persons in the ceremony.
The acting President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Saleem Shahid and its General Secretary, Khursheed Abbasi would also be attending the condolence reference, which would be followed by a protest rally to be taken from Press Club to the Chief Minister’s House.
The representatives of the civil society would also participate in the rally.
Meanwhile, the President of BUJ, Hamdaullah said that it is time to remember our companions who lost their lives in line of duty. He said that the executive committee of the BUJ had decided to observe the day. He said that all the necessary arrangements have already been made in this regard.
The event would also mark unity among the ranks of media persons in Balochistan.
Meanwhile, a function marking the death anniversary of General Secretary of BUJ, Irshad Mastoi, his colleague and former student of Mass Communication Department of University of Balochistan, Abdul Rasool and a co-worker has also been arranged at the Department the same day.
Other media persons killed in different incidents would also be remembered on the occasion.
The faculty members and students of the Mass Communication Department as well as media persons would attend the function.
