Govt. committed to polio eradication: Commissioner

QUETTA: The Commissioner Quetta Division, Kambar Dashti has categorically stated that the government is committed to polio eradication in the province and as such no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
The Commissioner was speaking to the District Officers of Pishin the other day.
He said that the government is working on war footing grounds to bring improvement in education, health and other social sectors. So, the concerned officers would have to fulfill their responsibilities with regard to achieving the goals set for them, he stressed.
He said that they (civil servants) are not the rulers, rather they are servants of the public and as such it is our duty to resolve their issues at their doorstep, he maintained.
It is also our responsibility to carry out the struggle against the anti-social elements in the society, he said.
Referring the polio disease, the Commissioner said that it is a fatal disease, however, it is our pledge to eradicate the virus fully from the Quetta division and so the province.
He said that no negligence would be tolerated during the anti-polio campaign to be launched from the next month.
He urged the parents to fully cooperate with the anti-polio workers and volunteers and get their children vaccinated against the crippling disease.
It is also necessary for saving our children from the life-long physical disorder, he stressed.
About education sector, the Commissioner said that education is the key to development and no nation can progress without decorating the people with ornament of education.
It is because of education that the developed nations have made their mark, he said.
Kambar Dashti directed to the concerned officers to ensure attendance of the teachers at their respective duty places. Stern action may be taken against those absent from their duties, he directed further.
Similarly, disciplinary action should also be taken against the absentee doctors and the medical staff, he stressed.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner Pishin, Abdul Wahid Kakar briefed the Commissioner about the overall law and order situation in Pishin district.
On that, the Commissioner appreciated law and order in the district saying that Pishin is a peaceful district.
However, deployment of more personnel of the Police and Levies Force may be made at the entry and exit points of the district.
He also directed to the concerned to keep a strict vigil on the anti-social elements.
