QUETTA: A meeting of the Agricultural Engineering Department Balochistan was held here the other day.
The Provincial Secretary for Agriculture, Abdul Rehman Buzdar presided over the meeting.
Those who were in attendance were included: Director General Agriculture Engineering, Abdul Manan Raisani, Director General Agriculture (Extension), Yar Muhammad Pindrani, Director Headquarter, Syed Fatehullah Shah Gharsheen, besides other high ups of the agriculture department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary Agriculture said that the provincial government has purchased new bulldozers for bringing the barren land of the province under cultivation as the livelihood of around 70 percent population is associated with the agriculture sector.
The Secretary Agriculture said that while the government has purchased new bulldozers, it becomes responsibility of officers of the department to use their potential for cultivation of the agricultural land in the province benefitting from the bulldozers.
He directed to the concerned officers to pay special attention on care and maintenance of the machinery made available to them.
He also asked them to play their wholehearted role in making the department effective. The officers and staff of the agriculture department should provide necessary tips to the growers so that they may increase their production, he stressed further.
Moreover, he directed to compile record of the assets of the department besides ensuring attendance of the field staff at their respective duty places.
The Secretary Agriculture expressed his displeasure over performance of the Agriculture field staff and directed to the concerned to bring improvement in it.
He warned that no negligence would be tolerated on part of the staff of the department.
Referring the directives of the Chief Minister, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch and Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Sardar Aslam Bizenjo, the Secretary Agriculture said that violation of the rules and regulations would not be tolerated at all.
Every officer is responsible to strictly follow the rules and regulations, otherwise stern action would be taken, he asserted.
The misuse of authority as well as the government property would not be allowed and those found guilty of them would be taken to task, he warned adding that all the superintending engineers, agriculture engineers, field engineers and assistant engineers should strictly follow the instructions in this regard.
Meanwhile, the meeting decided that all the concerned engineers would submit the reports on monthly basis to the Directorate of Agriculture Engineering.
Similarly, it was decided to ensure timely payment of the bills to the Pakistan State Oil besides ensuring monitoring of all the development and non-development programmes being executed by the Agriculture department.
Earlier, the meeting was briefed about different activities of the Agriculture Engineering department in the province.
