QUETTA: The Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace Bill would be tabled in the Balochistan Assembly for necessary approval.
This was decided in a meeting of the Standing Committee of Provincial Assembly for Social Welfare and Women Development held here the other day.
The Chairperson of the Standing Committee, Dr. Shama Ishaq Baloch presided over the meeting. Those who participated in the meeting were included: members of the Provincial Assembly and the Standing Committee including Ms. Sapozmai Achakzai, Ms. Masooma Hayat and Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, besides the Secretary Law, Safdar Hussain, Secretary Social Welfare and Women Development, Shamsuddin and Deputy Secretary Tahir Shah Kakar.
The participants discussed the draft act of the Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace in detail. Different legal aspects of the law were also highlighted. It was decided to approve the draft act after thorough deliberation and enforce it in letter and spirit after necessary approval from the assembly so as to prevent the harassment of women at the workplace.
The steps recommended in the law are included taking certain steps for launching awareness campaign against violence and harassment of women as well as provision of Toll Free Numbers to enable women to have an access to law against their harassment, etc.
It was strongly recommended to enforce the law all over the province with immediate effect after approval from the assembly.
Draft of Industrial Relations Act:
The meeting of the Standing Committee of Balochistan Assembly for Industries, Mining, Mineral Development, Labour and Manpower was held with the Member Provincial Assembly and its chairman, Sardar Dur Muhammad Nasser in the chair the other day.
Those, who were in attendance were included: MPA Manzoor Ahmed Kakar, Provincial Secretary Industries, Abdul Fateh Bhangar, Provincial Secretary Law, Safdar Husain, Additional Deputy Secretary Provincial Assembly, Tahir Shah, Chief Reporter, Provincial Assembly, Maqbool Ahmed Shahwani, and other concerned.
The meeting discussed the draft law of the Balochistan Industrial Relations (Amendment) 2015 in detail. After thorough deliberation on it, it was decided to table the draft act of the Industrial Relations in the house of the provincial assembly for approval.
Moreover, draft law of the Balochistan Boilers and Pressure vessels was also discussed. It was informed that the Law Department has approved the draft law after review, so it would be presented in the provincial assembly for necessary approval and further implementation.
