Protecting measures against Congo virus to be speeded up

QUETTA: The Provincial Livestock Department has decided to speed up the protecting measures against Congo virus all over the province particularly in the Quetta and Zhob divisions from where cases of the same were reported.
The decision to this effect was made during a meeting chaired by the Secretary Livestock Department, Muhammad Siddique Mandokhail, which reviewed the measures for protection from the Congo virus, here the other day.
Those who were in attendance at the meeting were included: Director General Livestock, Dr. Ghulam Hussain Jaffar, Divisional Director, Zhob Division, Muhammad Naeem Khan, Divisional Director Quetta Division, Dr. Abdul Majeed Kakar, Deputy Directors of Barkhan, Zhob, Shirani, Chaman, Pishin and other concerned.
The meeting was aimed at reviewing the preventive measures against the Congo virus particularly in Quetta and Zhob Divisions.
The Divisional and District officers briefed the meeting about the steps taken and being taken for prevention of the disease in their respective areas.
They informed that the teams have been formed for carrying out anti-Congo survey in the areas for last several days.
The special focus is being given to the areas at risk of the Congo virus, the concerned high ups maintained. They told that hopefully all the areas would be covered soon. However, still some issues are being faced in the remote areas, they pointed out.
Addressing the meeting, the Secretary Livestock pointed out that the Congo is a fatal disease, which causes loss of life to the infected person.
So, we have to be careful as heavy responsibility rests with the Livestock department for prevention of the deadly disease, he stressed.
Siddique Mandokhail urged the officers and other staff of the department to discharge their duties with missionary zeal.
All the concerned would have to play their part in prevention of the disease utilizing their best capabilities in view of the importance of the human life, he directed further.
However, he also asserted that no negligence would be tolerated in completion of the mission of prevention of Congo disease in the province.
Those committing negligence in their responsibilities would be taken to task while those showing good performance would be duly encouraged, the Secretary Livestock assured.
He also mentioned that the department has already faced similar situation in the past well, and so it would do in future as well maintaining the good tradition, he believed.
