PM Nawaz inaugurates Green Line Bus Project

KARACHI, Feb 26 (HQ): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday inauguratd Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System Project in Karachi, which is expected to complete with an estimated cost of Rs16.85 billion.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Federal Information Minister Senator Pervez Rashid, provincial ministers and top officials were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Nawaz said the bus project will be more beautiful than the Lahore metro bus and will make life easy for the citizens. The bus project will be completed next year, the prime minister assured. He said that crime rate in Karachi had decreased to a significant level, and now they had to proceed with resolve to keep the city free of crime.
He said work on the Karachi-Hyderabad motorway had started, while construction of the Hyderabad-Sukkur section of the motorway will be started within a month. The Sukkur-Multan and Multan-Lahore sections will also start soon, he added.
Earlier, Prime Minister was received by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad Khan and Director General Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar at the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Faisal base. Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif presided over a meeting on law and order situation in Sindh province soon after his arrival. He was briefed on the law and order situation in the province here at the Karachi airport.
The Green Line starts at Surjani Town and is to end at Municipal Park, MA Jinnah Road and will benefit nearly 300,000 passengers per day. The project is expected to be completed within one year. The prime minister first announced the project at a high level meeting in July 2014. The project is to be completed with an estimated cost of Rs16.85 billion.
