Issues of water and solution: Water awareness week to be observed on March 16-22

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to observe water awareness week from March 16-22 besides celebrating the World Water Day on March 22 in the province.
According to a public notice, the observance would be made by the Provincial Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department in collaboration with the UNICEF and Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP).
Different activities would be arranged during the week aimed at creating much needed awareness about importance of water and its conservation.
These activities are included awareness seminars, walks, speech competitions, besides sessions at various educational institutions all over the province.
Two-day seminar would be held in Quetta. The first session of the seminar would be held on March 16 at the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University while the second session is scheduled to be organized on March 17 at a local hotel here. The theme of the seminar is :issues of water in Quetta and their solution.â€
Similarly, a provincial level speech contest and walk-a-cause would also be held in Quetta.
Moreover, the awareness sessions would also be organized at different schools in all the districts. Special sittings are also part of the awareness programmes to be held during the awareness week.
As per the notice, the strategic goals are included: exploring new sources towards water availability and conservation; behavioral social shift towards water use, conservation and mutual restitution; construction of dams for drinking water purposes, alteration of tube well run by electricity towards mass solarization and laying out a web of governance and policy framework towards water management.
