Opinion Poll: (52% Pakistanis are of the opinion that LG system will not bring about any difference in people’s lives: Survey)

According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 52% Pakistanis feel that the local government system will not be able to bring about any change, positive or otherwise, in people’s lives.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Do you think that the local government system will reduce the problems in people’s lives, increase the problems in their lives or would there be no difference?â€
In response to this question, 40% Pakistanis said that there will be a reduction in the problems of people while 7% said that there will be a further increase in people’s problems. Meanwhile, 52% Pakistanis said that local governments will not bring about any difference in people’s lives.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1783 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during February 15 – February 22, 2016. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
