PPF organizes training workshop for Journalists

QUETTA July 21 (PPI): Journalistic principles must be kept in view for reporting and preparation of news. Model Qandeel Baloch became target of irresponsible and unethical reporting. Had PEMRA taken notice in time a life cold have been saved. A Media Academy for training of journalists according to modern day demands would be established.
These views were expressed by speakers while speaking at three day training workshop of Journalism themes for journalists at Quetta Press Club. Workshop was organized by Pakistan Press Foundation with support of DANIDA and International Media Support at Quetta Press Club.
Deputy Mayor Yunus Baloch was chief guest at the closing session.
Speaking on the occasion Yunus Baloch said role of journalists cannot be denied for highlighting problems of society. Democratic institutions and journalists are complimentary and supplementary for each other. Journalists highlight problems and elected representatives resolve them.
He said local bodies representatives have always accorded priority of journalists. It is endeavour of provincial government and Metropolitan authorities to establish modern Media Academy in Quetta for training of journalists according to modern day requirements.
Yunus Baloch said because of his association with journalism he was fully aware of problems of journalists and all possible efforts would be made to resolve them. He thanked Pakistan Press Foundation for organizing training workshop for journalists. Coordinator PPF Ms Naseem Shaikh and President Quetta Press Cub Shahzada Zulfiqar while apprising about reporting on different aspects said while reporting disputes complete details should be obtained. Prior to release of news stance of two sides and administration should be verified. Journalists while reporting must keep journalistic principles and their security in view. Journalism is fourth pillar of State and following journalistic ethics State institutions can be attracted towards true problems of people. Journalism and democracy must for each other to make democratic institutions true democratic Media has to play its role responsibly.
Journalists were briefed of journalistic responsibilities through group work how to report conflict reporting, democracy reporting and development reporting.
Naseem Shaikh apprised about Media role for gender reporting and change in social behavior. She said next session would be held in August.
Councilor Arbab Shokat termed training process important for the journalists. He aid journalists and elected representative have close relations. Such trainings should continue onwards.
