QUETTA Oct 27 (PPI): Quetta must be saved from becoming Syria and Iraq like situation. Among problems of Pakistan the topmost is law and order problem. Government should take it seriously or more incidents can take place.

This was stated by President Awami National Party Asfand Yar Wali while addressing lawyers here Thursday.

ANP Secretary General Mian Iftikhar Hussain, provincial President Asghar Achakzai, President Balochistan Bar Association Ghani Khilji, Khalil Panezai and others were also present.

Asfand Yar Wali said August 8 incident in which noted lawyers were martyred has not only deprived Balochistan of senior lawyers but Pakistan has also lost senior lawyers. This vacuum we cannot fill for years together. It is no less than a challenge for the government that two tragic incidents took place one after the other.

He said we do not opposed Punjab development. But redressing backward and oppressed nations is responsibility of the government. Gwadar-Kashgar economic zone is important project for the region. If it was correctly implemented it can end backwardness of Balochistan and Khyber Pashtoonkhwa. He said government was not apprising people of facts about it form day one whether western route is included in the project or not.

Government must tell people of the facts and that promise made during All Parties Conference for Balochistan and Khyber Pashtookhwan was being implemented or not.

He said Federal minister has been making varying claims and he could not satisfy people about the road. We want to make it clear Prime Minister should fulfill his promise and reservations of the people of the area should be ended or ANP would come to the roads as was done on Kala Bagh Dam. He said Prime Minister and Ahsan Iqbal were constructing roads in Baloch and Pashtoon areas is not acceptable to us. We want CPEC and it is our right also.

Asfand Yar Wali said points presented on NAP is duty of government for its implementation. If NAP was implemented then end to terrorism is possible or we would continue to lift dead bodies and terrorists would continue to impose their dirty designs.

ANP Chief said Quetta incident is a big tragedy and we also postponed our public meeting in mourning. Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri said that relieved cadets were not called back should be probed why and who called them.
