International AIDS Day today

QUETTA Nov 30 (PPI): AIDS day is observed at the international level on Dec 1 every year in the world including Pakistan to stop way of this fatal disease and create awareness about virus.

Day would be marked by walk and seminar by different organizations and bodies working for prevention of AIDS. Provincial AIDS Control Programme Balochistan would organize a seminar on the occasion in collaboration with AIDS Control programme and other organizations. Health Minister Rehmat Baloch would be chief guest.

It is also aimed to stop HIV which was fastly spreading. Another objective of this programme is to create awareness among the people how to prevent from this disease. It also provides information to the people to avoid them from this disease by remaining careful in their sexual behaviours.

There are 637 registered AIDS patients in Balochistan. Of these 421 are in Quetta and 216 in Turbat. Provincial Control Programme has setup treatment centres for the treatment of HIV AIDS affected patients at BMC Hospital Quetta and DHQ in Turbat.
