Excise and Taxation Officer, Ex- MD WASA remanded in assets case

QUETTA Aug 9 (PPI): Accountability Court has handed over former Managing Director Water and Sanitation (WASA) Hamid Lateef Rana to NAB Balochistan for 14-days remand while Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer Farooq Shah and his son Salman Shah were sent to jail on 6 days judicial remand here Wednesday.
NAB Balochistan produced ex MD WASA and Assistant ETO before accountability court on the charges of accumulating millions of rupees assets beyond the known source of income.
During the investigation, it was revealed that former MD WASA was the real owner of various banglows, plots and agri-land worth millions of rupees in Quetta, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
It was also unearthed that he had shares in different lucrative business and concealed money in different bank accounts of notables.
Likewise, during probe into the case launched against assistant excise and taxation officer, Farooq Shah, it was disclosed that he had illegally made assets of Rs. 110 million, which were found beyond his income.
He possesses three banglows worth million rupees in Quetta, a costly plat in Bahria Town Karachi and deposited cash in millions in different bank accounts.
