QUETTA: Two-day training programme was conducted here at the office of Directorate General of Agriculture (Extension) in Quetta.
Organized by the Balochistan In-Service Training Academy on the theme of “controlled environment agriculture”, the training was attended by the district based agriculture officers.
Director General of Agriculture (Extension), Yar Muhammad Pindrani was the chief guest at the training session.
Besides Director General Agriculture (Extension), Director In-Service Training Academy, Dr. Amanullah Khan, Director Plant Protection Officer, Javed Qureshi, Director Vegetable Seed, Bashir Ahmed Bangulzai and Dr. Ayaz Ahmed Lashari also addressed the session.
Yar Muhammad Pindrani on the occasion applauded the efforts of Dr. Amanullah for conducting the training programme for the agriculture officers.
He commended that two training programmes were conducted in month of December with limited resources.
He said that the zamindars are being provided enough information and awareness by generalizing the tunnel farming.
Addressing the session, Dr. Amanullah said that the economic revolution could be brought about through the controlled environment agriculture technology.
We could save water up to 60 percent and increase total yield to 10 percent by using the technology and thus we could meet our food requirements, he believed.
The issues of food security could also be resolved through the modern technology, he maintained.
Referring the tunnel farming technology, the Director In-Service Training Academy said that we could produce all varieties of vegetables and fruits throughout the year.
The technology would guarantee the prosperity of the growers, he said.
Moreover, the agriculture scientists presented their recommendations in the training. They recommended to the provincial government to introduce the technology in remote districts of the province.
